An Introduction to the Practical Applications of Programming and Execution in Exercise

This course is designed to teach you the most important concepts of exercise execution and program design in an easy to follow, progressive format. The format for the course will be half in class and the other half on the gym floor, learning in a hands-on setting.

The course dates are February 2, February 9, February 23 and March 2 from 9am to 3pm. Enrollment is limited to 8 students and will be on a first come first served basis.  This will ensure the highest quality and personal attention from Chris.

In this course, we will cover:

Basics of exercise execution and cueing

  • Learn the proper technique as well as how to cue your clients to proper execution

  • Understand common faults and how to fix them through proper cueing

  • Know when to regress and when to progress through the exercise hierarchy given

Program design variables

  • Learn the principles behind reps, sets, tempo, rest and exercise selection

  • Understand and write programs for general population clients

  • Learn the theory and science behind short term periodization (12-16 weeks)

Principles of loading and progression

  • Learn how to pick weights and load clients effectively

  • Understand when and how to progress your clients
