Stretching Assessment

Lay on your back, lift one leg straight up into the air. Keeping that leg straight, reach your hand up and touch the ankle on that leg. Switch legs and do the other leg. Can you touch your ankle?

Lay on your back with your right foot on the ground, knee bent. Rest your left ankle on your right knee. Lift your right knee and reach around your hamstring or your right shin with your hands and pull your leg towards your chest. Switch legs and do the other leg. Can you reach around?

Sit on the floor, with your legs straight out in front of you, toes pointing to the ceiling. Reach forward and touch your toes. Can you touch your toes?

From standing, gently fold over at the hips, keep your knees straight and reach your fingertips to your toes. Are you able to touch your toes?

Standing up tall, bend to the right side (not tipping forward or backward) and slide your hand down the side of your leg to touch the side of your knee. Switch sides and do the left side. Are you able to touch the side of your knee?

From standing, reach your right arm down and around to your back and touch your left lower shoulder blade. Switch sides and do the other arm. Are you able to touch the lower part of your shoulder blade?

From standing, reach your right arm up and over your left shoulder and touch the top of your shoulder blade. Switch sides and do the other arm. Are you able to touch the top of your shoulder blade?

Sitting in a chair, hands on thighs, turn your head to the right. Switch sides and turn to the left. Are you able to turn more than 45 degrees on either side?

Are you able to sit comfortably, cross-legged on the floor for more than 2 minutes?

In your bare feet, make your way to the floor without using your arms and hands, and sit cross-legged. Then come back to standing without using your arms and hands. Are you able to get up to standing without using your arms and hands?
